Customer Billing Guide
Everything you need to understand your MaiGuard bill — subscription fees, included usage, overage, and prepaid token packs.
How it works
Your bill has up to three parts
Most customers only pay their subscription fee. Overage and token packs are optional and only apply in specific circumstances.
Subscription fee
Fixed monthly or yearly cost based on your plan tier. Charged at the start of each billing cycle regardless of usage.
Overage charges
Only applies when your usage exceeds the limits included in your plan. May be flat or tiered pricing depending on your plan.
Prepaid token packs
Optional top-ups you can purchase at any time. Tokens never expire and are consumed before overage billing kicks in.
Included usage
Stay within limits, pay nothing extra
Each plan comes with monthly allowances for API calls and scored transactions. As long as you stay within those limits, your bill is exactly the subscription price — no surprises.
Usage resets at the start of each billing cycle. Unused allowances do not carry forward — use your plan's capacity each month to get the most value.
Any request made with your API key — scoring, onboarding, webhooks, list management, etc.
Each call to POST /v1/transactions/score or /v1/transactions/batch-score counts toward your transaction meter.
POST /v1/sdk/telemetry events are metered separately on a telemetry-event meter, not the API-call meter.
Requests made with pk_test_* keys are excluded from live reporting and billing meters.

Beyond included limits
Overage & token packs
Overage charges
When your usage exceeds your plan's included limits, additional charges apply for the overage amount only.
- Flat pricing or tiered pricing depending on your plan
- Some plans support threshold-based mid-cycle charging
- You'll receive usage alerts before limits are reached
- Upgrade to a higher plan to increase your base limits
Prepaid token packs
Token packs let you pre-purchase usage credits outside your subscription cycle for predictable costs.
- Purchased tokens never expire
- Tokens are consumed before overage billing applies
- Buy packs at any time from the billing portal
- Separate from subscription — no cycle reset
